Project overview

MerHay is a catalog product for the Armenian diaspora: find a bakery, lawyer, clinic, or specialist in any city, then see hours, a map, and how to reach them. We shipped search, a 1,000-city atlas, listing pages, specialists, events, and a contribute path in English, Armenian, and Russian. The platform is live while listings keep filling in. People can already add a business or profile.

Challenge → solution

The rental category is crowded - we narrowed the story and rebuilt the path to booking around one memorable niche.

Before

  • Facebook-group discovery
  • One language, one city
  • No owner claim path

After - live build

  • Searchable worldwide catalog
  • EN / HY / RU
  • Listings with map, hours, contribute
After - live website

Problem

  • Armenian-owned shops, clinics, and firms were scattered across Facebook groups and word of mouth.
  • No single place to search a bakery, lawyer, or clinic by city across countries.
  • English, Armenian, and Russian speakers needed the same catalog, not three separate sites.
  • Listings needed hours, maps, reviews, and a way for owners to claim or correct a page.

What we changed

  • Shipped a worldwide directory product: businesses, specialists, cities, events, and an assistant.
  • Built a city atlas covering 1,000 cities across 21 countries, grouped by region.
  • Designed listing pages with hours, map, similar places, and a contribute / claim path.
  • Launched EN, HY, and RU from day one, with search that starts from bakery, lawyer, clinic, or city.

What we built

MerHay homepage with Mount Ararat hero and worldwide search

Deliverable 01

Search-first homepage

Ararat hero, a single search for bakery, lawyer, clinic, or city, and language switcher in EN / HY / RU. Businesses, specialists, and cities sit in the header, not buried in a mega menu.

MerHay city atlas with 1,000 cities and 21 countries

Deliverable 02

City atlas

1,000 cities across 21 countries, grouped by Armenia, Americas, Europe, Middle East, and Oceania. Filter by city or country, then open a hub like Yerevan, Glendale, or Paris.

MerHay listing page for Mirzoyan Bakery in Glendale

Deliverable 03

Listing pages that answer who to call

Hours, map, reviews, similar places, and contribute / claim actions on one page, so a Glendale bakery is usable without opening five tabs.

MerHay mobile homepage with search and language switcher

Deliverable 04

Mobile catalog

Search and language stay reachable on a phone. Diaspora users look up a place while traveling, not only at a desk.

Result

  • Live product at merhay.com, with search, atlas, and listing pages already in use.
  • 1,000-city atlas across 21 countries, from Yerevan and Glendale to Paris and Beirut.
  • Three languages in the header, not a bolted-on translation widget.
  • Contribute and Add a listing so the catalog can fill in as the community uses it.
